FAQ
The questions we’re actually asked, answered plainly. If yours isn’t here, ask us directly.
Legal validity & acceptance
What’s the difference between a certified and a sworn translation?
A certified translation carries our signed statement that it faithfully reflects the source document — the form most administrative and academic procedures accept. A sworn translation (traduction assermentée) is produced or countersigned by a translator registered with a French Cour d’appel, and carries evidentiary weight in French court and some specific administrative procedures. Tell us which your receiving authority asks for, and we’ll confirm before you order whether we can supply it in that form.
Will a digital PDF be accepted, or do I need a stamped original?
It depends entirely on the receiving authority — some prefectures and consulates accept a digital PDF, others require a stamped hard copy delivered by post. Check with the office requesting the document, or ask us; we can usually tell you what’s typical for a given procedure, and you choose the delivery format when you order.
Can you provide an apostille?
An apostille is issued by the relevant government authority (in France, generally the Cour d’appel), not by a translation provider — we can’t add one ourselves. If your document needs an apostille for use abroad, that’s arranged separately from the translation, and we’re happy to explain the order of operations.
Is a certified translation from Quantum Translator valid outside France?
Requirements vary by country and by the receiving institution. We’ll tell you plainly if we’re not sure your specific use case is covered, rather than guess.
Pricing & payment
Are the prices on this site VAT-inclusive?
Yes — every price shown is TTC (VAT 20% included). The cart and checkout show the VAT amount separately, but it’s already part of the total on each service page.
Is there a minimum order?
One unit — one certified page, one 500-word block, or one session, depending on the service.
What if my project doesn’t fit neatly into one of your seven priced services?
Get in touch through our contact form and describe it — where it’s genuinely bespoke (unusual volume, an uncommon format, or work outside our two languages) we’ll scope it as a custom quote.
Do you offer invoices for businesses?
Yes — add your company name and, optionally, your VAT number during checkout, and your invoice will include them.
Turnaround
How fast can you turn around a translation?
Standard delivery is 3–5 working days for most services (4–6 for medical and pharmaceutical). Priority (48h) and Express (24h) are available on eligible services for an additional fee, shown on each service page.
What happens if you miss the turnaround you quoted?
If we miss a stated Express deadline, we refund the rush fee. Standard and Priority orders that run late are flagged to you proactively — we won’t let a deadline pass silently.
Does the clock start when I pay, or when you receive my documents?
When we receive your source documents. Because this is a static, no-upload site by design, you email your files after checkout — the turnaround clock starts from that email, and we confirm receipt.
Confidentiality
Who sees my documents?
Only the linguist assigned to translate it and the independent linguist assigned to review it. We don’t share source documents with anyone outside that order.
Can you sign an NDA before I send anything?
Yes — ask, and we’ll sign one before you share your documents, at no extra cost.
How long do you keep my files?
Only as long as it takes to complete, review, and deliver your order, plus a short support window in case you have a question about the delivered translation.
Process
What if my document doesn’t fit neatly into one of your seven services?
Get in touch and describe it — most work fits somewhere, and where it’s genuinely bespoke we’ll scope it as a custom quote rather than force it into the wrong category.
Do you only work between English and French?
Yes, by design. We do one language pair, so we can go deep in it rather than spreading thin across many.
Can I speak to the linguist working on my document?
Direct linguist contact isn’t part of the standard workflow, but if you have a specific terminology question or brief, send it through and we’ll pass it on before translation starts.
